Ms. Heena Sidhu, Director RPSC

Heena hails from Patiala, Punjab. She started shooting in the year 2006. In 2007 itself, she made it to the National team and won a bronze medal at the Asian Shooting Championships in the Air Pistol junior women event. Since then there has been no looking back.

Highlights of her Shooting Achievements

  • She was crowned the National Champion in 2008.
  • She won a Silver medal in the World Cup at Beijing in 2009, a Gold medal and a Silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010 and a Silver medal at the Asian Games in China in 2010.
  • In 2011, Heena won the Gold medal at the National Games held at Ranchi. She won the competition with a lead of over 10 points and created a new Games Record.
  • She represented India at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the Air Pistol women event, missing out on a podium finish by a whisker.
  • In the year 2009, Heena entered the top 10 in the world rankings with the world rank of 8 and today she is ranked 14th in the world. She is undoubtedly the best Indian Air pistol woman shooter of all time.

Apart from being an elite sportswoman, Heena is also a very bright academic student. She got admission in B.D.S (Bachelor of Dental Studies) through open merit. She is currently in the final year of B.D.S. and is only months away from becoming a dentist.

Heena is perhaps the best example of how shooting sport can actually help one in academics and other walks of life. How else would one explain an Olympian, Commonwealth and National Champion to be an excellent upcoming Doctor?
